Strathmore 15 - 10 Aberdeenshire

The 2ndxv with Captain Eddie at the helm got the afternoon off to a great start putting one over on Aberdeenshire who give us a great hard game every time we meet.  Rare appearances from Vice President Bob Baldie and Dick Nobel and the influx of some new Irish friends as well as the ginger bearded Fergus (Photo to Follow) made a colourful team with "for only the second time at Strathie someone being sent off for ineffectual punching".  More to follow.

Strathmore 2nd XV 36 - 48 Dunfermline RFC 3rd XV

A hugely entertaining 2nd team fixture against unbeaten Dunfermline entertained the home crowd, including a large agricultural sponsorship contingent. The lead changed hand several times, but the premier 2 side proved too strong, winning by 48 points to 36. The phrase "the old ones are the best" was proved correct by the home side with tries from James Brodie, Nicol Welsh, Bob Baldie and Iain Fletcher (2), with the giant Bryce Pretorius smashing over for the sixth. Another relative "oldie", Robin Young, slotted 3 wobbly conversions.

Ellon 2nd XV 45 - 10 Strathmore 2nd XV

Graeme Crozier and his League topping team made the journey north to play Ellon, a fixture in which the Blacks have had good results, to be done over by Ellon.  Try by Dick Noble, Penalty and Conversion by David Brown.  No report on the Nobel try but from a previous game this Westwood gem live strongley in the mind

"The next few moments seemed to happen in slow motion as Noble stripped the opposition winger of any shred of dignity, selling an outrageous dummy that will surely leave mental scars that may never heal.  Concrete could have set in the time that Strathie's veteran flanker covered the three yards to the try line but the cheer that greeted him when he collapsed over the whitewash will live long in the memory."
